Scout 80 Our Dana 18 Master Overhaul Kit for your Scout 80 with 1-1/4″ intermediate shaft, is the most complete kit we have found. This kit includes all bearings, seals and gaskets. Not to mention that it has the correct intermediate shaft. We have seen a lot of kits that either do not come with the intermediate shaft or come with one that has wrong size O-Ring groove cut in it. Our Dana 18 master overhaul kit also includes the shifter anti rattle springs and shift rail poppet balls, which is a huge help if one of yours are missing or damaged. If your Dana 18 transfer case is making noise or chattering when you are off the gas, we have found that most of the time it is coming from a worn intermediate shaft. When the shaft wears, it lets the intermediate gear bounce around when you are not on the gas (chattering). It takes very little wear on the intermediate shaft to get this chattering effect. So if you are considering a rebuild of your Dana 18 Transfer Case, make sure you do it right and replace the intermediate shaft during your rebuild.
