I decided to take a chance and have been using it extensively for the past few days.I’m happy to report that it’s a great deal for the price. I’ve been using handheld immersion blenders for about a decade now (I’ve gone through a couple of different models in that time) to make my own mayo, toum (garlic spread), salad dressings, aiolis, pancake batter, muffin batter, smoothies, milkshakes, and more. I primarily bought this as a backup to my main immersion blender. The positives:- The chopper/processor functions exceptionally well. It blends large medjool dates, oils, sugars, and bananas into a proper muffin batter in minutes. I’ve had to return a couple of no-name branded blenders in the past because this function fails when the blades at the bottom spin fine, but due to the lack of power the pieces on top of the chamber don’t move much. No such issues here – it evenly chops and blends.- The immersion blade attachment also works well to produce smoothies, mayo, and other emulsions, to a certain extent. See below for additional observations.- The tall smoothie jar works well and also comes with a silicone lid, which is a nice touch. It protects leftovers and securely fits even a couple of the tall glass tumblers in my cabinet, which was a surprise. It’s super convenient to refrigerate leftovers without using plastic clingwrap.- Unlike some other models, there’s no separate “unlock” button that has to be pressed simultaneously with the trigger to operate it properly. I’m glad these guys didn’t bother with this unnecessary precaution.- The immersion attachment has a black coating around the area holding the blade – somehow I’m finding that this coating makes it easier to clean it, as opposed to other blends where that portion is metallic. The “could be improveds”:- For certain tasks, it feels underpowered. For instance, achieving a proper emulsion with smaller quantities of oil and egg.- In contrast to the highly effective immersion blade attachment and the chopper/processor unit, the whisk attachment and the frother attachment both perform poorly. The frother is particularly poor in design and will not be used. It doesn’t even compare to a $2 Ikea frother. They would’ve been better off not including it.- In my humble opinion, the holder/stand is another example of a non-practical idea. The moment you remove one or two attachments, the entire structure loses its stability and can’t stand on its own. There’s no designated spot for the frother attachment, which further suggests that it was an afterthought and not well-thought-out.
