1.2M 4FT Headphone Upgrade Cable for Hifiman He-5 He-6 He-400 He-500 He560

$ 6.99

This a small delicate cable that works well. I wrap my own coils for vaping so I have several gauges of wire to use for comparison. This is 24 gauge conductors in a twisted configuration with decent connectors. That being said, this cable is far too delicate for traveling around with your phone or any other portable device. It’s a good thing they’re only 4ft. for 2 reasons: 1 because of thin conductors and 2 you won’t accidentally step on them. An important thing to keep in mind is I removed the outer screens from my HE-400’s and the wires going from the jack to the diaphragms are the same size. As for sound quality, out of the box they sounded bright, but after 100 hours of brown noise they really settled down to a neutral sounding cable. Bottom line is if want a cable that works well for home listening only and don’t have a lot of money to spend, these are for you. If you want large expensive Teflon insulated bad-ass audiophile cables, go to Moon Audio. I just checked prices on Moon Audio and their cheapest 5ft. cable is $195. Ouch!The longer I use these cables, the better they sound. I’m using the original HiFiMAN HE-400 headphones that I paid $300 8 years ago. They still sound great, but how much money should I spend on replacement cables? So I took a chance with these and at first I thought what do you expect for $25. However after burning them in and doing a lot of listening, they sound much better than I could have imagined! Yeah they’re short and have thin conductors and are not suitable for portable use, but they really sound much better than I thought they would. They are a little on the bright side, but that usually goes away with use. I’ve been an audiophile for 40 years and I’m really impressed. ’nuff said.After 60 more hours of brown noise these little cables keep getting better. When I first purchased the HiFiMAN HE-400’s I sought some aftermarket cables. This outfit called CablePros had a cable for $160(seems a little high for $400, on sale for $300 headphones.) So I bought them and about a year ago one of the older screw down connects snapped in half and CablePros had gone out of business. So I used the stock cables for a year and I decided to remove one of the connectors and installed it on the $160 ones complete with shrink tubing and hot glue. It worked for a few months and it ceased to work and shrink tubing cannot be removed. So I had nothing that would work. So I took my chances with this little cable. Yeah I would’ve preferred a 1.5 meters and a protective sheath, but after burning them in I swear these cables sound just as good as the $160 CablePros.One caveat: the 4ft length does take a little getting used to.Highly recommend!
