I decided to try these because my tv has poor sound. I knew it was bad, but didn’t know just how bad until I connected this sound bar. The sound is much louder and clearer than just the TV, and I can actually hear some bass with it from the included subwoofer.I’m an audiophile and have lots of high end equipment. This certainly doesn’t fall into that category, but it does provide a nice middle of the road for just watching TV; I have a separate home theater system for movies. This has four different methods of connecting it to the TV, including Blue Tooth, optical, HDMI-Arc and 3.5mm (headphone jack). I was able to try the first three methods with my TV, but my TV doesn’t have a headphone jack. I did have to go into the TV settings to get some of the methods to work, but that’s not the speaker’s fault. Of the three methods that work for me, I found that Blue Tooth works best because it allows me to control the volume with the TV remote as well as the remote included with the speaker. This allows me to turn the volume down lower than the other methods. The volume for optical and HDMI is too high at the lowest setting, so it’s not useful for me later in the evening. That’s the biggest problem with this is that the volume is way too high. It’s more suited for a larger room full of people watching a football game where the higher volume is appropriate. The sound quality is decent with the sound being clear and intelligible. You need the subwoofer to go with it, otherwise it sounds tinny or airy. The speaker is pretty big. It’s as wide as my 55″ TV. It also includes an LED strip light across the front of the bar. There are also buttons on the end so that it can be fully operated without the remote. Some other things to mention are that it includes an equalizer and three sound modes. There are twelve volume levels, but I find that 3 is plenty loud for regular usage. 1 and 2 are quieter, but the sound is affected negatively at those levels; at 3 and above the sound is completely clear.
